This being the first official farm blog post I'm going to try and keep it short. We've been VERY busy this week working on erecting our new farm stand. It's a beautiful pine clad building that is going to house a fridge and freezer, lots of shelves for veggies, and provide a welcoming atmosphere to the farm. We're hoping to eventually get some tables out front for starts and do some nice landscaping, including digging a small pond to catch our vegetable wash water where we will plant some edible aquatic plants... Max is working on a list of what will end up in there. Then who knows, maybe we'll put out some picnic tables, have some music, maybe even an espresso machine... we can always dream... :). I'll have some pics up of the building in progress and as it finishes first thing.
Meanwhile, the greenhouse is just POPPING. We've had a lot of potting on (transplanting to larger blocks/pots) to get done this week and there is still plenty to do. The first eggplants came shooting out of their soil sometime yesterday, there are starting to be a lot of tomatoes, we seeded more varieties of flowers than I could keep track of, and hopefully we'll be getting out into the fields this week! Let's all just keep our fingers crossed for some nice warm dry days so that we can get the fields ready. Time for me to head down to the greenhouse and get the evening fire goin'.
